FANTOOMPIJN is a supersustainable wearable genderneutral collection derived from the minds of StudioKling & Logocomo, inspired by rave culture and with a touch of Escher.
StudioKling is Joni, a multidisciplinary artist. Logocomo is Romy, a fashion + costume designer. 

Fantoompijn translated to English is: Phantom limb pain: refers to ongoing painful sensations that seem to be coming from the part of the limb that is no longer there. The limb is gone, but the pain is real. The limb for us refers to rave culture & nightlife and we experience the complete lack of it as an almost physical loss.

 

SUSTAINABILITY
We started Fantoompijn because we felt there were no really really cool garments to wear that are also sustainable. So we started a line themselves!
Sustainability should be the only option, that's why we chose to print on fabrics made from recycled pet i.e. recycled pet bottles! The fabrics we use have the GRS (global recycled standard) quality mark & the ink they use is GOTS certified. How’s that for sustainable.

We work with a pre-order system to reduce waste & eliminate deadstock. What to do with a lot of pants & shirts laying around because we made too many? Right, nothing! It’s all very unnecessary and also a lot of lost time. So we’re just not doin’ it. We only produce what is ordered. Better for us, better for you and so much better for the environment.

 

PROTEST
With Fantoompijn we say goodbyeeee to gender stereotyping. All the clothes are non-gendered.

On top of that we invented a whole new sizing-table to get rid of negative emotions attached to certain sizes. Because Fantoompijn is inspired by rave culture in the nineties, we decided to pay hommage to places that are forever in our hearts, whether we’ve been there or not. So for instance; when you order, you won't buy a size 42, 38 (ugh) but hear this: you buy a Parkzicht or a Roxy!! How's that for not being able to go to the club. You will be in one, always. Now repeat after us; Sizes don't matter, clubs do! 

We experience the complete lack of nightlife as an almost physical loss. Club culture with the subcultures and trends that can arise there don't stand a chance. The feelings of freedom and spontaneous togetherness we experience when dancing are hard to find but much needed. With this collection we try to bring those feelings back.

FANTOOMPIJN is een super duurzame draagbare genderneutrale collectie door Studio Kling & Logocomo, geinspireerd op de rave cultuur en met een Escher'eske feel.
Studio Kling is Joni, een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar. Logocomo is Romy, een kostuum + modeontwerper. 
Fantoompijn; het gevoel van pijn in een geamputeerd lichaamsdeel. Het lichaamsdeel is weg, maar de pijn is aanwezig. Het lichaamsdeel verwijst voor ons naar de rave-cultuur & het nachtleven en we ervaren het volledige ontbreken ervan als een bijna fysiek verlies.

 

DUURZAAMHEID
Fantoompijn is ontstaan uit een gevoel van gemis op het gebied van duurzame uitgaanskleding, we besloten daarom het heft in eigen handen te nemen en zelf een kledinglijn te beginnen. Duurzaamheid zou altijd een voorwaarde moeten zijn, daarom hebben we ervoor gekozen stoffen te gebruiken van gerecyclede petflessen die geprint zijn met GOTS-gecertificeerde inkt.
We werken met een pre-order systeem om stof overschot, product verspilling en milieu vervuiling tegen te gaan. Wat te doen met al die stoffen en extra gemaakte kledingstukken die misschien niet verkopen!? Klopt, helemaal niets! Allemaal zeer onnodig en ook veel verloren tijd. Dus we doen daar niet aan mee, we maken alleen wat er besteld wordt. Beter voor jullie, beter voor ons en zoveel beter voor het milieu. 

 

PROTEST
Met fantoompijn zeggen we genderstereotypering vaarwel; alle kledingstukken zijn voor alle genders. Ook gooien we het reguliere matensysteem radicaal om. We werken niet met een numeriek systeem maar met een zogenaamd ‘rave systeem’, een eerbetoon aan het club leven. Iedere maat is verbonden aan een andere club. Je bestelt dus geen maat 42 maar een maat Roxy. Waarmee wij maar willen zeggen: “Maten doen er niet toe, clubs doen er toe!”

Het complete ontbreken van het nachtleven ervaren we als een bijna fysiek gemis. De clubcultuur met de bijbehordende subculturen en trends die daar kunnen ontstaan worden op dit moment met uitsterven bedreigd. De gevoelens van vrijheid en de spontane saamhorigheid uit het nachtleven zijn op dit moment ver te zoeken maar wel broodnodig, de term Knaldrang viert niet voor niets hoogtij. Met deze collectie brengen we die gevoelens weer terug.
